The Doomsday Clock has been moved closer to midnight again ...
'"As we stand at the brink of a second nuclear age, and a period of unprecedented climate change, scientists have a special responsibility."
The decision to move the clock is made by the bulletin's board, which is composed of prominent scientists and policy experts, including 18 Nobel laureates ...'
Whole article is here, and the official board statement is here. There's also a timeline of the clock's movements on the group's website here.
Kinda scary when you think 18 Nobel laureates reckon that we're destroying ourselves?? Although the positive is that it has been closer to midnight before (the early 80's when it was 3 and 4 minutes to midnight, and the late 40's/early 50's when the US and the then USSR first started nuclear testing).
